It is easy to save seeds, and they remain viable for at least a few years without special handling. Sometimes the plant self seeds in Zone 4. The pods do "explode" if dry, so collect carefully. Hummingbirds and bees like the flowers. If the pollinators are visiting frequently, the flowers close quickly, and frequent deadheading is needed to keep the spectacular display going.
