As my image shows, the leaves are russet-colored, an indication of extremely bright light. As evidenced by the surfeit of blooms, this degree of light suits it well. I would call the foliage woody or leathery, not at all shiny or glossy textured! It is quite rigid.
The nighttime scent of this flower is powerful - like freshly-baked lemon cream pie.
It blooms heavily in early summer, and lightly in early winter.
At least, that is what it does here.
