THis is one of my favorite understory palms- it has a lot of nice color on the stem under the leaf bases (crimson, sort of like Dypsis fl...Read Moreorencii) and attractive, dark green bifid to partially split pinnate leaves. It's a suckering palm but takes up very little room- great for small tropical and very warm temperate gardens. I have had one in the ground in a zone 9b for 4 years (don't know how it's doing now, unfortunately) and it had no problems in shade against the house, except it suffered in high, dry heat if I forgot to water it frequently.
