Floating row covers are a real plus..they take a good bit of cold, but are still are damaged by very cold conditions..I make a temporary green house with huge plastic bags that I get at work...drive in a few stakes, and cover over them with bags,,staple gun makes sure it stays put...Save bags for later, to cover tomato plants in fall....put in a coupls of plantings..a week or so a part, so you'll still get some in a worse case,full blown spring snow storm...They freeze very well, so plant plenty...very good eating... a great change from other veggies,,,
