I plant them the end of May and ...Read Moreusually start harvesting them towards the end of July when they're about 4" long and 1" in diameter. We pick the last of them the end of August, and by then they're quite big - not long but fat, maybe 7" long and up to 2.5" in diameter at the top. They're still sweet and crisp though. They also keep a long time in the crisper drawer of the refrigerator. Our friends and family always come looking for them when they raid our garden.
