However, it is still a fast palm, seed germinates extremely easily and it is a great palm for So Cal as well as the tropics. Like all Archontophoenix, they love water, but will do fine with 'average watering'.. more water they get, the more they grow. I think it is nearly impossible to over water an Archontophoenix, unless you have thick clay and the water never drains away. Many palms have reddish to pinkish color on new emerging leaves
