It produced six big peaches the very next year (2003) -- at least that's all we saw (the birds love them too). Now, in May of 2004, it has produced a nice crop.
The Flordaking is a low-chill variety (I think about 350 hours) that is recommended for my growing zone (9a - Louisiana). Its fruit is yellow-fleshed and is a clingstone type. The skin is yellow and, when ripe, is heavily blushed with red.
I can understand why I have to fight the birds for the fruit! They are fresh- and sweet-tasting, with a nice smooth texture (the fruit, not the birds).
