It is an epiphyte with cylindric pseudobulbs, up to 50cm tall, with 2 or 3 leathery leaves on the top. The flowers come from the top of the newest pseudobulb, 3-7 flowers per plant; they are of a bright orange color, with a golden lip, a sweet fragrance, and last for many days.
This plant likes light shade, moist, organic medium, and high to moderate temperatures. A plant that, even if let alone with no fertilizing for a while, may be expected to bloom every year, maybe more than once.
