Very similar, at least here in So Cal, to Arenga engleri, but perhaps less hardy to sun and wind. Also maybe a bit less cold hardy. Pla...Read Morent has similar clumping, shrubby habit, but slightly droopier, more graceful leaves as an adult. Seedlings are near impossible to tell apart from A engleri. Even though monocarpic, only stem that produces flower dies, while rest of plant keeps on growing.
