This is a very interesting landscape specimen with long, twisting, very spiny 1" thick stems that do resemble a many legged octopus at fi...Read Morerst glance. The leaves are spaced inbetween the spines and gives on the impression this is related to the Allauadias (both are Madagascan natives). I have found this plant to be somewhat hardy to frost not being damaged yet by frosts in the high 20s as long as grown in full sun and very draining soils.
