By the same token we need to understand the plants cultural requirements. Trichodiadema are genetically programmed to follow the South African seasons where it rains in the winter, as in California. (Mediteranean Biome).
It is best to let these plants become dry in summer and watch them for activity around September-October time when they will let you know that they are active. Usually by bud formation. Then they should be watered lightly. keep them in a bright sunny window sill or green house. (not hardy). They should flower in late winter early spring.
