I call it "stinkvine" for the reason others have mentioned. I'm in a different part of town now, with better soil, and I find bits of this vine coming up from time to time, which I pull up right away. It's not a really troublesome vine but it's also not particularly useful in the garden and takes up somebody else's space. I read somewhere once that it is a butterfly larval host down in South Texas but can't remember what it was.

Our local area folks call this cow itch vine. I hate it and am slowly digging up the tubers and throwing them in the garbage after letting them bake in the Texas sun.

WHOA!!! This vine stinks!!! Wooo doggie! What a horrible stench!!! UGH!!!

Oh well, am giving it a neutral rating as it at least it serves the useful purpose of being a larval host plant for an unusual looking moth.
