I don´t know much about this plant. The only time I came close to one was in my last visit to the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden´s orc...Read Morehidarium. There were two plants with long inflorescences (really, they must be over than a meter long, too much for the plant´s size) and lots of flowers. It didn´t catch my attention at the beginning, since the flowers are greenish/white/brown, not really atractive. But then I sensed a heavenly smell! It was something really different, like artificial grape aroma. The flowers smell like grape! I never sensed such smell from a flower. Then, I understoo its scientific name ("osmantha" means "perfumed flower")
The artificial grape juice makers shouls label their stuff as "natural Encyclia osmantha´s aroma". Sounds more natural :^P
Seriously, it seems to like light shade, high humidity, moderately moist organic soil mixed with fiber and high temperatures.
