Because of its hard rind and late ripening it would be available after the 'Dixie Queen' and 'Stone Mountain' melons were gone. However, I don't remember one keeping until Thanksgiving, let alone Christmas and the taste is inferior to 'Dixie Queen' and 'Stone Mountain'.
