The one in the ground was transplanted once from one location in the ground too another because the first location was not sunny enough. It transplanted without a problem. Bottom line- this species has presented no problems in cultivation. My plants came from Loran Whitelock as small seedlings. I'm in a USDA 10A/ Sunset 23 climate area- the avocado belt. Winter temps rarely go below 40F.

You have to grow this one in full, blazing sun, or you won't get that gorgeous, glaucous blue coloration. Shady habitats make it look green and ordinary.
This plant reportedly grows a lot better in the ground than in a pot, and is also touchy about being moved. In fact, it's a touchy species in general. Best to plant this one out a bit smaller and be sure that's where you want it.
Hard to find plant usually, but occasionally they are available.
