This is native to the central and eastern portions of the US and it's current scientific name is Oenothera gaura.
This is not a plant suited for landscaping. It needs room, so make sure you have space or use some other plant that cannot reseed easily. But if you have space, this is a Hummingbird magnet! In the fall I could not get hummingbirds to come to the feeders near the house, but they could be found out in my prairie-to-be where this plant thrives!
Gaura biennis thrives well in my zone 7b garden. It definitely need space for it to grow. One of hummingbirds' favorites.
