Here in Australia, Snow-In-Summer is a small tree, with white feathery bottlebrush flowers. It flowers around Christmas-time, which is summer downunder and the trees are then covered in dense masses of pure white flowers, so that the tree looks just as if it is laden with snow.
I met it first in the Botanical Gardens in Canberra. I was standing under a small tree and was aware of a wonderful scent in the air. I looked at plants all around me and it was a while before I realised that it was the tree I was standing under that smelled so nice.
I planted one in my front garden 10 years ago and it is now a lovely little tree, about 4 metres tall and flowers profusely each summer.
