The plant is drought tolerant and can be allowed to dry out without killing it. It also does not require full sun to grow and bloom, making it ideal as a house plant in the north.
The foliage is attractive and sturdy and I think this would be a good hanging basket candidate too because of the way the bloom spikes form.
