It spread by seed and runners. To collect seeds, let them dry on the plants, put them in a large paper grocery bag, upside down, in the garage, let continue to dry until you can shake the seeds from the heads. Sow them immediately or store in a zip type bag and sow them later.
In the spring, early summer you can also cut the runner between a mautre plant and a new plant, dig up the entire plant and immediately put it in a pot with moist potting soil, keep moist until you see new growth, plant them in a sunny place, water in well and walk away-that's it, no muss no fuss.
In Osprey Fl (9B) they bloom mid October and if you have enough they become a sea of gold. All plants are the same height and flat headed and are absolutely beautiful.
They are also a late necter plant for bees, but are visited by a dozen or more other necter feeders. Some of these are predators of garden and lawn pests.
