So far no problems with black spot or rust. Survived the Texas drought in it's first year of planting. A very beautiful rose indeed!
My favorite flower shape of my eight English Roses. So beautiful, the cupped shape, and so consistent flower to flower. In addition, th...Read Moreey never really get "too open" before they fade...incredible. The color is a pale, warm pink. Just a hint of warmth...just stunning with the bluish-green foliage.
The fragrance is also lovely. Not as good as 'Jude the Obscure', but then, what is? ;-) A close second. David Austin describes it as, "good Old Rose fragrance, with just a hint of raspberry." Yum.
Back to the foliage a moment... it is a true blue-green...insofar as Rosa foliage gets a blue undertone....just gorgeous.
Japanese beetles will go after it a bit, but not destroy it (I do have others to which they seem more inclined, so...); a little black spot and rust, but nothing at the level requiring spray/intervention. Keeps on quietly trucking. D.A. says it repeats "intermittently" which I have found to be true...but steadily so...it is never without at least one flower, or several ripe buds.
Overall, due to it's reliable growth and perfect, lasting flowers - and wonderful fragrance! - it is my favorite David Austin Rose. If I had room for more, I'd put in a hedge of these - they are that stunningly beautiful.
