Loves fertile, moist but well drained soil in full sun or partial shade. It dislikes heavy soils prefering sandy loams. It's not the easiest to overwinter so place in the best drained spot in the border you have.

Supposedly this plant is fussy. Not for me! I have it in well-drained dry shade, and it thrives there.
