It is delicious and far superior as a sweet corn to its white contemporaries like Shoe Peg and Howling Mob. It is easy to grow and prolific although it can't hold a candle to modern hybrids. Some older farmers never took to it because of its size. As one related to me, he wouldn't plant any corn that a Jaybird could eat while standing on the ground.
