Large flowerheads, with ray-flowers in a partly double ring, white with a hint of blue or lavendar. Fertile flowers dark blue. The shrub is of firm stature and about 3' to 4' tall, with shiny dark green leaves. Sensitive to spring frosts. Flowers are very large, to about 8" across, graceful and can make a good cut flower. Elster means "magpie."
