Aphids are probably the worst insect pest, but in my area, the peas just keep growing, and I don't treat them to remove what few show up.
They can be used as young snaps at about 65-70 days. The peas can be shelled and used fresh a week or so later. If you want to harvest for dry peas, that will take about 100 days.
