they state that the tonawanda bean is bush habit, when it is a landrace including plants that may almost pass as bush, but it is semi to full pole type, with pods mostly green but some of the large pod types come out with a more pink yellow blush and the darker bean types usually have more slender and darker pods. the dry bean comes out smaller than a southern bolita and the largest are almost the size of runner beans. most are striped, in all variations of color ive seen in beans. many pinks. the plant requires the shade of corn to thrive and climb, it is a cornfield bean. plant them 3 - 4 to every corn plant to ensure there will be 1 or 2 bean vines per corn plant. over 2 weeks later you can plant one bean to every corn plant again for a lesser second round.
