I have it is a mostly sunny, dry spot, good soil, sporadic water, prominent corner of the bed where it can be admired.

Update on May 19th, 2008: The ZEBRA iris - aka officially named by t...Read Morehe AIS as - PALLIDA VARIEGATA. This one has yellow-edged leaves whereas another Pallida's variegata has white-edged leaves and is lighter blue in color. PALLIDA VARIEGATA was first known to exist back in 1896.
It has been called and referred to by many other names: One of them being "Pallida aurea variegata" (with small letters). In 1930 - this particular iris "pallida aurea variegata" was shown and compared, and then realized it was the same AAA-138 classification - - thus being the 'one and the same' iris as PALLIDA VARIEGATA.
According to the AIS 1939 registration checklist (where "pallida aurea variegata" can also be found); the checklist description of "pallida aurea variegata" finishes it's description stating the true iris name of that iris: PALLIDA VARIEGATA.
Other names the real PALLIDA VARIEGATA had previously been called in other areas before it was officially declared as the one and the same iris are as follows: aurea variegata, Follis variegatis; Pallida aurea variegata; Pallida follis variegatis; pallida major follis variegatis; pallida panache; Pallida variegata lutes; Pallida variegated foliage; Striped Leaves; and whom many refer to as the ZEBRA iris.

This plant will also grow in part sun; its foliage brightens up dark parts of the garden even without flowering.
