This is one of our favorite Irises. We recieved it from Willow Bend Farm in Colorodo in 2011. it is a very fast multiplier and loves direct sun. Their is something very special about it.
This Plant was created by L. Merton Gage creator of Sunnyside Gardens in Natick, Massachusetts in 1926. Later in Gage's life, Sunnyside Gardens was moved to Orange, Mass.. He was a Gladiolus raiser, but gave them up, to focus on tall bearded Iris in 1927, and Gage is also famous for his white siberian iris 'Snowcrest' 1932. He worked on many joint breeding projects with Lapham of Elkhart, Indiana on a number of pinks, magentas and reds. Lapham created the beautiful pink iris L. Merton Gage in his honor.
