Dense, medium sized mound of shiny, dark green foliage to 17" high x 48" wide. leaves are 7.5" long by 4.25" wide, blade ovate and moderately wavy; smooth texture when young, slightly corregated at maturity. Good substance; 8-10 vein pairs. Flowers early to mid-July; medium purple on 23" scapes. Does not readily form seed pods.

Lohman/Zilis - IRA/1988. Scapes reach up to 23".
This plant grows low to the ground and has not done well in my garden. I may put it in a pot to try getting better growth.
