T...Read Morehey are smoother than the Ponderosa's and may be an ounce or so larger. Same open type vine that is short enough to grow using the sprawl method. They come in four colors; a dark pink, a bright red, a deep yellow and a light yellow. Like the Ponderosa, the dark pink (purple) is the most prone to monster shapes and catfacing. In my opinion the Golden is the best of the bunch. In the late 60's Burgess introduced a hybrid version of this tomato which was outstanding. Burgess rapidly declined shortly therafter and this cultivar was lost.
