A medium-sized species, the leaf color varies as they emerge, starting mahogany red tinted with pronounced white marginal hairs, then turning more greenish as it matures. The horseshoe-shaped, thick leaf has a darker green centre and band around it."
"This is Begonia mashanica, a medium-sized limestone species from Guanxi, China. Mine is still a young plantlet. The leaf color will vary considerably as it matures. See the last three photos of a mature plant that I have, which I did not know earlier is the same species, which is also sometimes known as Begonia jingxiensis var. mashanica."
