It has been happily growing and putting out new growth slowly even though it is currently winter. It’s growing in a high humidity and moderate artificial light area. Currently growing in a sphag/leca/perlite mix that I do not allow to dry out. I have not tried to grow this in ambient air. If you have success growing Calathea or tradescantia I think you’d do well with this.

They almost look as if they were rubbed with black shoe polish. Got this from an Ecuadorian seller at a garden festival last July and it’s been growing in a dim spot with high humidity. The thick round leaves, which are about 4” in diameter now, will get to about 6-7". The plant is harvested from the wild for local use as a medicine. It makes an attractive ground cover plant. Native to Upper Amazonia, it has been documented from the mid-elevation, eastern slopes of the Andes in Ecuador through the lowlands of northern Peru. It is typically found on the floor of primary rainforests. This species is adaptable to a low light environments."
