Seems these bulbs dislike the wet spring more then most. A drainage issue would be the most likely cause. However, I bought and planted a number of other bulbs at the same time without issue, the only ones I had rot issues with were freesia.
I have successfully grown the following in Dallas- columbine, asiatic/day/rain lilies, glads, canna, amaryllis, dahlia, crocosmia, nerines, and acidantheras with out issue.

After being under water for about 5 days from Katrina, they came back beautifully. Unfortunately, we repaired and sold our house so we didn't get to enjoy them again - but whenever we're down that way, we go by the 'old' house and check out how things are growing. Highly recommend this flowering bulb.
