It is native to a little of far eastern Ontario & Quebec, New England, NY, the Mid-Atlantic, and down to northern Georgia. It gets about 12" high, and is good for USDA Zones 3 to 8. It grows in nature in dry, shady woods. It is good for landscapes-gardens in light shade to part-shade and dry to average soil moisture. It is deer resistant. it bears very long bracts beyond the flowering inflorescent.
