The fruit are, indeed, amber when ripe, which supposedly makes them less noticeable to birds. The fruit also seem larger, with more flesh. I haven't noticed any other differences. I got a bargain on an Amber from a local nursery that was discarding them because so many people were complaining that Autumn Olives are invasive.
