Other than occasional summer irrigation, these plants have thrived on neglect! No pruning or feeding or pests. We have acidic volcanic clay soil. They are beautiful in late spring with the showy white/pink flowers and the foliage rocks in the summer and fall. There are red berries that linger for a bit in the winter then the plant becomes bare for about 3 months. Love the dark ginger red color of the leaves! Unlike some ninebarks, this one shouldn't become too huge. Birds and bees love it!
