The foliage is glaucous and beautifully mottled with a mosaic of squares and bars along their entire length. The plant are quite tolerant of temperatures down to about 50 during the winter provided that they are not allowed to be continuously wet while exposed to cooler temperatures, humidity is the main problem as it must be maintained near 50% or greater year round to prevent desiccation and wilting of the foliage. This plant is best suited to cultivation inside of a plastic pot with small bark chips and medium to large perilite kept evenly moist at all times with mild fertilizer applied only during periods of active growth. Overall a very easy to grow species with 3+ inch blossoms that last up to six weeks in perfect condition, larger plants can have several flowers open in succession over an extended period of time which can increase the blooming period to three or more months.
