As it grew up, and I waited for the flowers, I ...Read Morequickly realized that contrary to what I had been told, it was armed to the teeth with strong, sharp thorns. When it finally bloomed, I saw myriads of tiny, pure white single flowers with beige anthers and pink stigma, a lovely combination. I will try to post a picture of my wild rose, as I later found out I had obtained. One of my colleagues from Mainland China was in tears when I brought her a whole armful of flowering branches, as she said it reminded her of walking in the hills around her hometown as a young girl. So, I understand this is a Rosa banksia normalis, and I wouldn't have it any other way ! I have never seen another like it.
Added: I have now, with the help of Dave's Garden, gotten three pictures uploaded, hope they illustrate the unusual beauty of this wild inhabitant of my garden!
