Anyway, it's a lot easier to grow than Carolina Cross #183 (it sprouts faster and more vigorously, and can sprout in cooler weather), but it has a similar size, and the seeds are an interesting dark brownish color instead of white. The seeds are unique among all the seeds of all the watermelons I've grown, but they're functionally similar to the standard dark mottled kind, and they're easier to chew up than white and red seeds. The seeds are quite large.
The taste is decent. Pretty standard. Doesn't taste like pumpkin. Isn't bland. Sweet, but not super sweet. Nice rind.
It's a good watermelon to breed with; I've had a number of crosses with it, and most of them have been pretty nice.
It's one of the best varieties I've tried for my garden's conditions.
