Nieuwoudtville. Bulb Capital of the world.
Quite a surprise. Found Stumaria truncata (the pink form) growing on the Knersvlakte. This bulb was previously known as Strumaria rubella and as such will be found in earlier publications. Strumaria is one of the many Amaryllidaceae genera to be found in the vicinity of Nieuwoudtville and comes into flower after the first rains.
Strumaria, in its various colour forms, grows beautifully in a pot and the white form is particularly striking.
