This is a handsome large Cephalaria which has proven trouble-free in my garden for close to twenty years. Lush foliage clumps, and many graceful bloom stems topping 8 feet.
Flowers are not particularly showy, but are attractive in all of their details, being scabiosa-like "pincushion flowers". Hugely attractive to bees. This plant receives a lot of positive comment from garden visitors.
Self seeds somewhat, but seedlings are easily removed. One plant is really all you want, unless you have a huge garden.
Very tolerant of heat and drought, but happier with a bit of summer watering in the hottest part of the season. Very hardy, to Zone 3, perhaps colder.
