It has smooth, glossy foliage with leaflets sort of pointed and usually 5 leaflets in a compound leaf. Normally seedless. It was selected out of Minnesota. It tends to drop its leaves in the fall earlier than most other trees due to its more northerly origins. Normally has a straight central leader and ovate form.
