Blue-leaf Willow

I just discovered this shrub. I was looking for and found the American Pussy Willow in the Northern Illinois Collection at Morton Arboret...Read Moreum in Lisle, Illinois in June 2015. Next to it was planted this similar looking species. I would have thought it was a Pussy Willow with more bluish foliage, if not for the label with the scientific and common name. I took two photos. There is a large number of American native shrub willows that only some botanists know. There is a Missouri Willow, Salix eriocephala, that is almost identical to this except for more leaf margin teeth and no glaucous coating below the leaf. This shrub would also work well in a native, naturalistic landscape or native restoration area.
