Foliage is compact, lacy, and is held very close to the branches to enhance the twisting habit of the branches. Thorns along branches are small enough to be completely hidden in the foliage and can surprise the unwary. This large shrub or small tree is a favorite nesting site for small birds.

Collect seed from dry pods. Seeds can remain viable for many years. Scarify to enhance germination.
