The flower stems sprawl due to the weight of the many flowers. This would be a great plant for hybridizing. The market price has now fallen to below $40 from its initial stratospheric heights.
The large flowers are yellow, not rose/mauve.
The "evergreen" foliage forms a mound to 12" tall and 30" across. (The leaves do not abscise in the fall, and may be evergreen in the southern part of its range.)
May need winter protection in Z6.
First discovered in 2001 by epimedium guru Darrell Probst near Chongquing, China. The species is still unnamed.
