Great in the front of the border with light pink blooms and bluish grey slender leaves. Planted in partial sun 4 to 6 hours from 11 am to 4 pm. Have some in partial shade, but not blooming. Will move to more sun in the fall.
Other Dianthus that are blooming: Rockin' purple dianthus that remains green in winter and often blooms in the winter. When they get leggy and bloomed out I just cut them back to 4 to 6 inches and they bounce back with flowers.
There are several other generic dianthus that I picked up off the shelf from Calloways and Lowes that are blooming in this intense heat. They also remain green and bloom in the winter. I've had these for many years now and they never fail. Super easy to grow.
Dianthus are easily propagated by division but also cheap to buy in the nurseries. Most Dianthus are evergreen or semi-evergreen in our area. Survives the heat and the 2021 freeze of - 5 degrees.
