The three foot growth mentioned on the tag is not honest, and shows that people just want to get these new plants to market fast. If in fact its is grafted to root stock of our native trumpet vine (Campsis radicans), it will of course put out runners and in time take over the garden. My plant did not stay 3' tall - far from it. I pulled 14' stems out of the neighbor's trees.
I would not advise anyone to plant this because the hybridizer's description is not accurate. It was developed in Holland and they likely don't have the kind of climate most of us in the U.S. have. Perhaps the U.S. native species doesn't thrive there. Now I will likely have to poison the roots to keep it from coming back.
