I have yet to plant it in the ground, but it looks as though it is going to bloom this fall. I got it at the garden center of a home improvement store, and there were two plants in the one-gallon pot. I separated them into somewhat larger pots, and they are doing fine.
I see on one internet source that 'Rose of Autumn' originated in 1990 at Green Nurseries in Fairhope, Alabama, but the American Camellia Society says that it was registered in 2002. I don't know if the year of registration is the same as the year of patent. Is there a source for finding whether or not a plant is patented? --Also, the camellia is categorized as 'hiemalis,' not sasanqua.
