The plant can take severe weather extremes, and isn't picky about rain or lack thereof. It seems to flower almost constantly, though the blooms are tiny and my least favorite bloom color, yellow.
Update, Oct. 2017: My beloved plant died, apparently due to a freakshly hot and dry September, following tons of rain in the spring & early part of the summer. So I blame myself. Now I'm desperate to get another one, but I doubt it'll be easy. (Mine was bought ca. 2013 at the Hilltop Arboretum in Baton Rouge.) Basically the ultimate "instant bonsai" shrub. My only question would be: How long are Hypericums reasonably expected to live? In other words, is this a short-lived perennial, or a fairly long-lived shrub? If the former, it would not be ideal for bonsai.
