This is an awesome dwarf wax myrtle. I predict it will become indispensable in southern landscaping, in situations where people use dwar...Read Moref yaupon or full-size boxwood. I tore out my regular (full-size) wax myrtle last month because it was getting too big, next to a bedroom window, and will probably replace it with this dwarf version.
Note: There is also a variety called 'Don's Dwarf.' I asked some plant geeks working at LSU's Hilltop Arboretum, where I bought my three 'Tom's Dwarf' trees, and they each said that they are definitely different plants. (One was developed in Alabama, and I think the other is from Mississippi.) It's a shame that they have such similar variety names. I've seen both plants in person, and they appear indistinguishable to me, so grab either one if you're lucky enough to find one. I intend to buy even more...
