I transplanted it...Read More in late summer/early fall, and then once it went dormant cut it back. This year, it has grown well and it is almost 6 feet tall. BUT - only one flower, and thus one berry. What am I doing wrong? And how do I know what is the Primocane and the flouricane? Please help, i'm way out of my league.

I've grown the Blackberry Prime-Ark Freedom for 2 years in my Maritime Pacific NW, zone 8a garden. I bought 6 plants of tiny tissue cult...Read Moreure starts, which were about 2 inches tall, in seedling 6-packs. I planted them during late winter. Rabbits promptly ate 3 of the plants. The other 3 grew fairly well the first year, with canes reaching 2 feet tall. They start slowly, then take off and grow. I got a taste of one blackberry from one of those canes. However, then deer ate two more of the canes. Last winter I moved the two surviving plants to a protected bed, with fencing to protect from deer and rabbits. This year, 2017, the canes grew very rapidly. I snapped the tips off at 3 feet tall to encourage branching. The new branches added another 3 feet of growth. The canes produced several handfulls of blackberries over a period of about a month. These were by far the largest, best tasting blackberries that I have ever tasted. The berries are several times the size of local wild ones. They are very sweet, juicy, and have great blackberry flavor. During the summer, new vigorous canes grew from the crowns as well. Based on this year's growth, which was the first real year of established plants, I anticipate more canes with more excellent, big, juicy blackberries next year. The canes are completely thornless and a pleasure to work around and pick without getting scratched. So far there have not been insect or disease problems.
